Our Distinctives

  • Biblical.

In all we do, we seek to love and serve God and our neighbor. This springs forth from learning more about who God is and who We are in Christ. We use Scripture, the inspired Word of God, as the foundation for all our instruction and the lens through which we view all of life and the subjects we study. Every CPLE parent must read our statement of faith and sign an greement acknowledging that their child is being taught from this worldview while a student at CPLE.

  • Beautiful

"Point to some lovely flower or gracious tree not only as a beautiful work, but a beautiful thought of God" - Charlotte Mason

In our very simple days, we are surrounded by a profound beauty in every interaction with life and thoughts. We desire to instill this wonder of the beautiful in our daily interactions with each other and our surroundings. We see this beauty amplified in our daily rhythm through nature study, music, art, Bible, math, and the act of creating the new, ourselves.

  • Relational

Our hope is to bring together a sense of community and 'belonging' within the school AND deeper connections with children and their families. This will happen as they have more time and opportunity to enter a relationship with our Creator, His Word, and with the beautiful world around us in body, soul, and spirit.

Once a relationship is formed between the child and what they are studying, a new living idea is formed. This same concept is embodied with a teacher, classmate, or friend. Charlotte Mason described this concept with the term "science of relations,” in which ideas are living and can be related to other ideas throughout our lives. “The more relations a child establishes within each of the groups into which we divide school work, the more complete and happy that child’s life be” (The Story of Charlotte Mason, p. 101).

  • Collaborative.

CPLE assists parents with practical help in education through classroom instruction, accountability, and connection with experienced Charlotte Mason instructors, veteran teachers, and families. CPLE is a supportive community that prays, plays, and encourages one another in family life, faith, and the formation of our children.

  • Creative.

We believe that every child is created in God’s image and therefore is His image bearer. The first thing we learn about God in Scripture is that He is a creator and full of creativity. Thus, every child has creativity. That may be in art, theater, or music, or it may be in science, writing, math, or history. It is important that each child find’s his canvas to be able to reflect God’s image to the world around him.

  • Cultivating.

In a culture that is overrun with screens, technology, and instant gratification, CPLE offers outdoor work, various genres of music, and poetry, all grounding heart, mind, and hands in the beauty of God's creation and character. We are privileged to live in the Arkansas Valley where God’s creative nature is constantly on display, and we can learn from it and cultivate a love for it in our students.

Several outdoor classroom spaces enable us to be outside as much as weather permits and regular outdoor nature excursions enhance our science curriculum.

"I Am...a child of God, I Can... Do all things through Christ, I Ought...to do my duty to God and Others, I Will...Choose the right." - Charlotte Mason
